Where a private car makes the difference

These are the routes we drive most. Each one works as a day trip from Bangkok, or as a one-way transfer if you are staying the night. Times below are real driving times, not optimistic ones.

Bangkok City & the Grand Palace

Bangkok City & the Grand Palace

8–10 hours Day trip

The old city on the river — Wat Phra Kaew and the Emerald Buddha, the reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, and Wat Arun on the far bank at the end of the afternoon. A private car matters here because the temples close early and the traffic between them is unpredictable.

Usual stopsWat Phra Kaew · Wat Pho · Wat Arun · Chinatown · Asiatique

Pattaya & Jomtien

Pattaya & Jomtien

150 km 1.5–2 hours Day trip

Close enough for a day trip, far enough that how you travel changes how much of the day is left. The Sanctuary of Truth in the morning, lunch by the water at Jomtien, then Nong Nooch or the viewpoint before heading back on Motorway 7.

Usual stopsSanctuary of Truth · Jomtien Beach · Nong Nooch · Big Buddha Hill · Koh Larn ferry

Ayutthaya Ancient City

Ayutthaya Ancient City

80 km 1–1.5 hours Day trip

The old capital, a UNESCO site, and the easiest big day trip from Bangkok. The ruins are spread across an island, so walking between them in the heat is not realistic — this is the trip where having your own car with the air-conditioning running matters most.

Usual stopsWat Mahathat · Wat Chaiwatthanaram · Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon · Bang Pa-In Palace

Kanchanaburi & Erawan Falls

Kanchanaburi & Erawan Falls

130 km 2–2.5 hours Day trip

The Bridge on the River Kwai, the war cemetery and the museum sit in town; Erawan Falls is another hour further into the hills. Doing both in one day is possible but tight — we usually suggest leaving Bangkok before seven.

Usual stopsRiver Kwai Bridge · Death Railway · Erawan Falls · Hellfire Pass

Hua Hin & Cha-Am

Hua Hin & Cha-Am

200 km 3 hours Day trip

A quieter beach town with a royal history and a long, walkable seafront. Three hours each way makes it a long day trip — many people go one way and stay the night, and we simply drive back for them two days later.

Usual stopsHua Hin Beach · Cicada Market · Santorini Park · Phraya Nakhon Cave

Khao Yai National Park

Khao Yai National Park

190 km 2.5–3 hours Day trip

Two very different days share the same road: the national park with its waterfalls and wildlife, or the valley of vineyards, cafés and Tuscan-style resorts just outside it. Tell us which one you want — the routes barely overlap.

Usual stopsHaew Narok Falls · GranMonte winery · Primo Piazza · Pak Chong cafés

Damnoen Saduak & Maeklong Railway

Damnoen Saduak & Maeklong Railway

100 km 1.5 hours Day trip

The floating market empties of atmosphere by ten in the morning, and the train through Maeklong market runs to a fixed timetable. Both are timing problems, not distance problems — which is exactly what a private driver solves.

Usual stopsDamnoen Saduak floating market · Maeklong railway market · Ban Bang Phlap

Phuket & the Andaman Coast

Phuket & the Andaman Coast

Day trip

We operate on the island as well: airport transfers to Patong, Kata and Kamala, day charters around the old town and the viewpoints, and pier transfers for Phi Phi and James Bond Island departures. Most visitors fly down and pick the car up at Phuket airport.

Usual stopsPatong · Phuket Old Town · Big Buddha · Promthep Cape · Rassada Pier

Private car compared with the alternatives

There is no single right answer — it depends on your group, your luggage and how many stops you want in one day.

Option Best for Advantage Drawback
Private car with driver Anyone who wants the day to actually work Door to door, route changes mid-trip, luggage stays in the car, fixed price Costs more than a bus per person for solo travellers
Public bus / minivan Solo budget travellers with light luggage Cheapest per person Fixed schedule, terminal to terminal, extra transport needed at both ends
Metered taxi / ride app Short single trips inside the city Available on demand, no booking needed Surge pricing, refusals for long trips, driver will not wait while you visit
Train Ayutthaya and Hua Hin, if you enjoy the journey Scenic and inexpensive Slow, timetable-bound, still need a car at the destination

Tell us your trip. We will send you a fixed, all-in price.

Airport pickup, a day around Bangkok, or a multi-day trip upcountry — send the date, the number of passengers and where you want to go. No obligation, no pressure.
